Ancelotti had a meeting to discuss his future with club President Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Leonardo on Sunday.
Leonardo tells French sports newspaper L'Equipe: ''Carlo asked to leave for Madrid, but we want him to stay. There was no firm decision; we listened to Carlo. We have to consider everything for a bit.''
He adds that ''the priority is still that he remains with us. We have never contacted other managers.''
Earlier this week, Al-Khelaifi said he rebuffed a request from Madrid's sporting director for Ancelotti.
Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is expected to leave at the end of the season.
Ancelotti steered PSG to its first French league title since 1994 last week.
