FC Porto says it has struck a deal worth a combined 70 million euros ($90 million) with Monaco for midfield duo James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho.
Porto said in a statement to the Lisbon stock exchange Friday the French league club paid 45 million euros for 21-year-old Rodriguez and 25 million euros for Moutinho, who is 26.
Rodriguez, of Colombia, moved to northern Portugal in 2010 for just over 5 million euros and helped Porto clinch the Portuguese championship title for the last three seasons, scoring 21 league goals.
Moutinho has earned 42 caps for Portugal.
The French outfit secured promotion back to Ligue 1 earlier this month after two seasons in France's second tier and they are full of ambition, with club president Dmitry Rybolovlev willing to spend big in order to build a team that can compete in the Champions League.
