Fenerbahce rallied beat visiting Salzburg 3-1 on goals by Raul Meireles, Moussa Sow and Pierre Webo on Tuesday night, advancing to the playoff round of the Champions League on 4-2 aggregate.

Jonathan Soriano had put Salzburg ahead in the fourth minute. Fenerbahce is awaiting a hearing date at the Court of Arbitration for Sport to appeal a two-year ban from European competitions, imposed after club officials were convicted in a criminal trial of helping fix Turkish league matches in 2011.

Lyon also reached the playoff round, winning 1-0 over Grasshoppers in Zurich on Clement Grenier's 82nd-minute goal for a 2-0 victory in the home-and-home, total-goals series.

Baseladvanced on 4-3 aggregate despite wasting a three-goal lead in a 3-3 draw at Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Steaua Bucharest, Slovenia's Maribor, Kazakhstan's Shakhter Karagandy and Bulgaria's Ludogorets Razgrad also advanced to Friday's draw.

Arsenal, AC Milan, Schalke and Real Sociedad also join in the playoff round. Ten teams will advance from the playoff round and join 22 clubs which qualified directly for the group stage draw on Aug. 29.
