Egypt dominated the Irish squash open tournament (NZT) with Tarek Moemen winning the men’s competition and Nour El-Tayeb the women’s

Egyptian 18 year-old number four seed, Nour El-Tayeb, surprised the experienced Netherlands champion, Jaclyn Hawkes in the final of Women’s Irish Squash Open tournament, gaining $26 thousand.

It wasn’t an easy task for the Egyptian as she was hit by a two losses, but was able to struggle during the next three games to beat the 28-year old 4th seeded 3-2 in 110 amazing minutes resulting in 13/15, 5/11, 11/8, 13/11, 16/14.

In the men’s competition, young Egyptian, unseeded in this tournament, Tarek Moemen clinched the title winning the $25 thousand event after beating No. 1 seed Australian Stewart Boswell 3-1 resulting 12/10, 11/7, 8/11, 11/3  in 54 minutes.

The Egyptian duo was honoured by the Irish Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Frances Fitzgerald, before they were warmly congratulated by the Irish consul Mr Ahmed Abbas and the Vice President of the Egyptian Society of Ireland, Dr Amr Arisha.
