Mohamed Elshorbagy and Rami Ashour secure a place in the World Championship semis but compatriot Shabana exits the tournament

Egyptian duo Mohamed Elshorbagy and Ramy Ashour have advanced to the semi-finals of the 2014 World Championship in Qatar.

World number one Elshorbagy eased past Steve Coppinger of South Africa 3-0 (11-9,11-8 and 11-7) to set up a semi-final meeting with Nick Matthew, who thrashed Egypt's Amr Shabana 3-0 (11-3,12-10,11-6) in the quarters.

Rami Ashour came from behind to claim a thrilling 3-2 (9-11,7-11, 11-6, 11-7 and11-6)win over Spain's Boria Golan.

Ashour will face Frenchman Gregory Gaultier in the semis on Thursday.
