Egypt's volleyball team ended their Japan World Cup trip with a 3-0 defeat to Iran (25-18, 25-11, 25-23), finishing the 12-team tournament in 10th place.
"Actually, we would have liked to have finished the competition with a win, but most of the players, especially the younger players, lost their concentration today," Egypt coach Nehad Shehata said after the game.
Egypt lost against nine opponents in the tournament, winning twice against Tunisia and Venezuela, with a win total of 13 sets and a loss of 30.
"I think I can say we hit around 90 per cent of our target; we had a good ranking and got experience for our younger players and the team. So I’m happy with the performance of my team."
The eight-time African champions' best ever performance in the World Cup was in 1985, when they finished in eighth place.
"I thank God because we hit our target and there were some positives from this competition. I hope the team will improve in the next competition," said Pharaohs captain Ahmed Salah.
Ahmed Salah is still leading the top scorer table with 230 points (207 spikes, five blocks and 18 serves).
Update: USA won their 13th World Cup
USA clinched the Cup after Argentine 3-1 in the last match of the tournament to finish with 30 points, just one point ahead of Italy and Poland.
This is the USA's 13th FIVB Men's World Cup and their first in three decades.
USA and Italy qualified for Rio 2016 Olympics.
