Egyptian player Ramy Ashour overcame Englishman Nick Matthew for the third consecutive time this year to win the British Grand Prix title in Manchester on Sunday.

In what is dubbed as the “dream final”, Ashour slumped to a surprising 11-1 defeat by Matthew in the first game but stormed back to win three successive games 11-3, 11-7 and 11-4.

Ashour maintained his remarkable unbeaten streak on the ASB all-glass showcourt in Manchester, where has never lost.

The 23-year-old won the Super Series Finals, the World Open and the 2010 British Grand Prix.
