The Egyptian national handball team have been drawn in group D of the Men’s World Championship alongside Qatar, Denmark, Sweden, Bahrain and Argentina.
The International Handball Federation (IHF) held the draw on Thursday for the 25th edition of the IHF Men’s World Championship, taking place in France between 11 and 29 January.
Conducted by the Federation Caretaker Chairman Per Bertelsen, the draw split the world's best 24 teams into four groups, with hosts France holding the right to choose which group they want to join.
"Group D will probably be the most challenging group, with 2015 runners-up and Asian Champions Qatar facing the strong handball nations of Denmark and Sweden, as well as Africa’s current number one team Egypt, [in addition to] Bahrain and Argentina, the bronze medallists at the Pan American Men’s Championship," the IHF website commented about Egypt's group.
