World number five Rami Ashour secured a place in the World Championship semis after defeating compatriot Fares Dessouky 3-0 (11-6, 17/15 and 10/8) in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.
Dessouky withdrew in the third game due to injury when Ashour was leading 10/8.
Ashour will have a tough test in the semi-final on Thursday against Frenchman Gregory Gaultier (2), who defeated Egyptian Tarek Moemen 3-1 (11-5,11-5, 14-16 and 11-8) earlier on Wednesday.
The second semi-final features an all-Egyptian clash between world number one Mohamed El-Shorbagy and Karim Abdel-Gawad.
