Egyptians Mohamed El-Shorbagy, Karim Abdel-Gawad and Nour El-Sherbini reached the 2017 JP Morgan Tournament of Champions semi final on Wednesday.

The prestigious tournament, held in New York, represents the kick off of this year's PSA World Series calendar.

In the men’s competition, world number one Mohamed El-Shorbagy will be facing world number 3 Gregory Gaultier of France, while world number 2 Karim Abdel-Gawad will play with 11th-ranked Englishman James Willstrop.

Defending champion El-Shorbagy defeated his younger brother Marawan (5) 3-0 in the quarters, while Abdel-Gawad won 3-1 against Germany's Simon Rösner (8).

At the women's contest, world number 1 Nour El-Sherbini is the only one of Egypt's four quarter-finalists to progress to the semi final, where she will be facing number 4 Camille Serme of France.

Defending champion El-Sherbini was too strong for number 6 Nicol David of Malaysia; beating her 4-1 in the quarter-final.
