Egyptian squash star and world number 1 Nour El-Sherbini lost to world number 5 Laura Massaro 3-2 in the semi-final of Allam British Open's women contest on Saturday.

Massaro of England came from behind to beat defending champion El Sherbini 3-2 (5-11, 7-11, 11-5, 11-3 and 11-6) in 63 minutes.

"I felt I just needed to be positive myself, but do it in a way that was from the right position," Massaro said of her comeback.

"In those first two games, I was trying to play from behind her a little bit and in the last three games I tried to play in front of her.

"When I’m moving well, I’m playing well. Against the Egyptians, you can’t be at full stretch trying to touch drops in or mix around at the front. They’re too nifty around the front, I can normally tell if I’m playing well if my lobs are going well.

"I really wanted to do well this week, especially being at home. There was a lot of pressure on me going into that fifth. They say that the home crowd helps and when you’re down at the end there, it definitely does."

England's No.1 Massaro will face compatriot Sarah-Jane Perry in the final of the iconic Allam British Open on Sunday.

The World N.7 Perry of England defeated Malaysia's Nicol David 3-1 (11-8, 7-11, 13-11 and 11-7) in 56 minutes.
