Egyptian weightlifter Sara Samir clinched three gold medals Wednesday in the International World Federation (IWF) Junior World Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

The 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Samir participated in the 69kg contest; lifting 105kg in the snatch, 133kg in the clean and jerk and 238kg in the total to win the gold medal in each category.

The 20-year-old Samir is the first female in the country's history to win an Olympic medal after winning bronze at the Rio de Janeiro Games.

Earlier in July, Egypt finished fifth out of the 25 competing nations at the 18th Edition of the Mediterranean Games that witnessed Sara Samir gaining two golds for weightlifting.
