The Egyptian national speedball team have, as expected, won all the gold medals at the 30th edition of the Speedball World Championship, which took place in Kuwait between 26 and 28 October.

The well-prepared team, under helm of coach Ali Gomaa, has proven their global domination in the sport, and all their competitors look up to them.

"All players earned their gold medals and earned global admiration and appreciation. I thank them all for their outstanding performance raising the Egyptian flag at the most important event in the game," Gomaa told Ahram Online at the Youth Hall in Kuwait City on Sunday during the closing of the event, which was attended by the Egyptian ambassador in Kuwait.

The all-time champions, the Pharaohs dominated the super solo, single and double disciplines, with slight competition from second-placed France, who surprised third-placed Tunisia.

Among the 104 participants, besides Egypt and hosts Kuwait, were France, Poland, Tunisia, Bangladesh, India, and Germany.

Originally a beach sport, speedball was invented by Egyptian Mohamed Lotfi in the 1980s and is attracting more players and national teams each year.

The standards of its tools and equipment are still developing by Egyptians and it is promising to get participants and fans.
