Egypt’s National Diving Competition concluded its 2018 event this week in Gezira Sporting Club by a sweeping victory for Heliopolis Club team securing Egypt’s National title for both men and women.
Egypt’s Olympian and Heliopolis diver Maha Amer (20 years) notched first place finishes in both one and three meters spring board diving events. In the Men’s competition, Egypt’s Olympian and Heliopolis diver Mohab Mohaymen (21 years) secured first places in all three boards: one, three and top board events.

Both divers Maha Amer and Mohab Mohaymen got first place in the mixed synchro three meter event. Maha and Mohab each got Best Diver Cup for Women and Men National Diving Competition.
The rest of the results for Heliopolis included third place in top board event for Mohamed Farouk, first place for Mohab Mohaymen and Mohamed Farouk for Men’s three meter event and second place for both divers in Men’s synchro top board event, third place for Sara Mohamed and Farida Amin in Women’s synchro three meter event.
Heliopolis Diving Head Trainer Captian Helmy Fawzy has been leading Heliopolis Sporting Club in the sport over the past two decades. He has trained three of Egypt’s Olymian divers, two of whom (Maha Amer and Youssef Ezzat) are currently studying in the USA and participating in the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) Division One.
Olympian Gezira diver Youssef Ezzat got third places in one and three meter Men’s events, and scored third in the top board Men’s event. Fellow Olympian Ahly diver Maha Abd El Salam scored second, first and third places in the one meter, three meter and top board women’s events.
It is worth mentioning that the four Egyptian diving champions: Maha Amer, Mohab Mohaymen, Youssef Ezzat and Maha Abd El Salam participated in the 2016 Rio Olympics and are currently preparing for the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Olympics representing Egypt.
