
Handball: Egypt defeat Angola 33-28 at World Championship, reach main round
Egypt's handball team sealed a place in the World Championship's main round after defeating Angola 33-28 on Thursday.
The Egyptian team ended their group stage campaign in third place with five points, three points behind Group D leaders Sweden, who will face second-placed Hungary later on Thursday.
The first three teams in each group advance to the next round.
In the main round, Egypt will join the three qualified teams of Group C Denmark, Norway and the winner of the game between Tunisia and Austria set to be played later on Thursday.
The Pharaohs dominated the game from its start, winning the first half 19-12, and they maintained their superiority during the second half.
Zamalek player Yeya El-Dera was named man of the match after scoring eight goals.
The main round will start on Saturday 19 January.
