Egypt clinches gold, silver medals at 2020 Pentathlon World Cup

Egypt’s penathletes won gold and silver medals at the mixed relay competitions on the final day at UIPM 2020 Pentathlon World Cup one in Cairo.

Haidy Adel and Islam Hamed snatched gold with a total of 1458 points while Salma Abdel-Maksoud and Ahmed El-Gendy took silver with 1448 points.

Korean team Kim Sunwoo and Jung Jinhwa claimed the bronze medal with1445 points.

Men's finals result:

Hungary’s modern penathlete Adam Marosi came on top with a total 1,470 points – 270 in fencing, 299in swimming, 285 in riding and 616 in laser-run. 

South Korean Jun Woongtae came second with 1,460 points; he scored 227 in fencing, 305 in swimming, 293 in riding and 635 in laser-run. Irish Arthur Lanigan O’Keeffe ended in third place with a total 1,454 points – 220 in fencing, 296in swimming, 300 in riding and 638 in laser-run.

Women's finals result:

British penathlete Joanna Muir came on top with a total 1361 points – 226 in fencing, 278in swimming, 286 in riding and 571 in laser-run.

Russian Uliana Batashova came second with a total of 1,361 points – 232 in fencing, 277 in swimming, 293 in riding and 559 in laser-run. Russian Gulnaz Gubaydullina finished third with a total of 1,349 points – 202 in fencing, 289 in swimming, 300 in riding and 558 in laser-run.
