Egypt suffered a 30-25 loss to Germany in their first Handball World Championship game on Friday.
The Pharaohs looked better than their fancied opponents in the early stages but Germany gained the upper hand midway through the first half.
The Europeans made use of their counter attacks to emerge winners at the expense of a largely inexperienced Egyptian side.
Egypt are in the tough Group A that also includes France, Germany, Tunisia and Bahrain.
In the other group match, France defeated Tunisia 32-19.
The top three teams in each group will advance to the main round.
