American football team Eagles Athletic Club won the African Flag Ladies (AFLC) title on Friday after co-hosting the continental tournament along with the Cairo Bears.

In a tightly-fought affair, Eagles Athletic Club defeated Cairo Bears 33-30 to clinch the title.

The tournament, which was played on the pitch of official sponsor ZED in El-Sheikh Zayed, comprised four teams: Egypt's Eagles Athletic Club and Cairo Bears along with Moroccan Jaguars and guest of honour Philadelphia Phantomz.

The Eagles Athletic Club is one of the oldest teams in Egypt that focuses on building a strong base, which enabled them to host such a big event, the AFLC, along with the Cairo Bears.

The Eagles’ President and AFLC Director Mostafa Hamad has expressed his pride for hosting this tournament.

He said his team and the Egyptian Federation of American Football have drawn up a "strong strategy" to increase the popularity of American football in the country and attract a big number of male and female players.

Cairo Bears’ President Shady El Kadry said the tournament "required a lot of effort to be carefully executed on a large scale." He also expressed his gratitude to ZED for hosting the event.
