
Egyptian Mahmoud Sabry wins the silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics
Paralympic weightlifter Mohamed Sobhy clinched the fifth medal for Egypt at the Tokyo Paralympics on Saturday after winning the bronze medal in powerlifting.
Sobhy won the bronze medal in the Men’s 80 kg event after lifting 212 Kg, coming third after gold medal winner Rouhollah Rostami of Iran and silver medal winner X-Gu from China.
Saturday’s bronze medal is the second Olympic medal in Sobhy’s career as he previously won the silver medal at the 2012 London Paralympics.
Earlier on Saturday, Paralympic weightlifters Mahmoud Attia and Fatma Omar won silver medals in the Men's 72kg and Women’s 67Kg events respectively.
On Friday, Paralympic weightlifters Sherif Othman and Rehab Radwan brought Egypt its first two medals at the Tokyo Paralympic, with each earning a silver in the Men’s 59 kg and women’s 50 kg competitions.
