Egypt failed to reach the Afrobasket quarterfinals for the first time since 2011, after losing to Angola 62-70 in the round of 16 on Monday in Rwanda.
The five-time African champions produced a poor performance during the continental competition as they slumped to two consecutive defeats in the Group stage against Tunisia 87-81 and Guinea 86-78 respectively.
They claimed an only win against the Central African Republic 72-56 to go through the next round as second of Group B with four points, behind leaders Tunisia.
The Pharaohs were affected by the injury of the team's star Anas Ossama, who sustained a serious shoulder injury during the opener against the Central African Republic that rendered him unavailable in the rest of the competition.
Angola will face Senegal in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
