Egyptian bodybuilder Mamdouh El-Sebaie, also known as Big Ramy, has won the 2021 Mr. Olympia title, the first Egyptian and Arab to win the title in two years in row.

 Big Ramy

Ramy proved in this edition of Mr. Olympia that it was no stroke of luck that made him win the previous year's title, as he appeared in wonderful shape, better than when he won his maiden trophy in 2020.

This year also saw widespread media coverage, aside from the significant interest in the competition from Egyptians and the Arabs, especially after Ramy’s victory last year.

“My dream is to develop the sport in Egypt, and bring home seven Mr. Olympia titles,” Ramy told Al-Hekaya TV show on MBC Masr.

In Olympia’s most famous open weight, Ramy took to the stage with an enormous 300-pound physique, aiming to display a better figure than last year’s. And indeed, he did. Everyone attending the event was sure the Egyptian was at his best and that the title was definitely his. Egyptians back home were praying for a repeat of the astounding 2020 achievement, and Ramy did not disappoint.

The 37-year-old bodybuilder celebrated with his 2021 Mr. Olympia title by posting a photo of the trophy on his official Facebook page writing, “Come sit here beside your brother” referring to the 2020 trophy.

“We all started from nothing. Years ago, I was working as a fisherman, and now I’ve become an athletic champion. All we need is to work hard, be patient, and know that nothing comes easily,” Ramy said in a TV interview.

“I’ve went through many tough tests in my life after winning my first Mr. Olympia title, but I passed all that over the year with the help of my loyal friends and achieved the title for the second year in a row,” he said.

“My advice for all athletes to do as I did. I do not follow social media platforms and I don’t pay attention to what has been written about me on these platforms. I just concentrate and I listen only to experts, because people’s opinion, whether positive or negative, put pressure on an athlete” he added.

Ramy assured that he is confident God will help him win the title and thanked the fans, the government, and all the people who made efforts to help him, during an interview with Sahebat El-Saada TV show on MBC Masr.

In all his media presence after winning the 2021 Mr. Olympia, El-Sebaei used to assure that he desires to continue competing in Mr. Olympia and achieve bigger successes, but at the same time, he wants to give back to society.
