Egypt to host 2022, 2024 African Men’s Handball Championships

Ahram Online , Friday 8 Apr 2022

The African Handball Confederation (CAHB) announced on Friday Egypt will host the 2022 and the 2024 editions of the African Men’s Handball Championship.

The CAHB decided to replace the previously scheduled hosts of the next two editions of the continental tournament – Algeria and Morocco – due to the political crises between the two countries, as each one threatened to boycott the other country’s edition.

Morocco was scheduled to host this year’s African Championship in July, while Algeria was supposed to organise the tournament in January 2024.

Egypt’s Minister for Sports and Youth Ashraf Sobhi established in a meeting on Friday the committee that will direct the tournament and gave the green light to start taking the necessary measures, successively, regarding logistical matters and determining the covered halls hosting the competitions.
