Wrestling: Egypt’s Samar Hamza makes history after reaching World Championship final

Wrestler Samar Hamza made history on Tuesday after becoming the first Egyptian woman to reach the World Championship final.

She defeated Epp Mäe of Estonia 3-2 in the semi-final of the +76 kg freestyle event at the ongoing World Championship in Serbia.

Hamza will face Turkish wrestler Yasemin Adar in the final on Wednesday. Adar qualified for the final at the expense of Genesis Reasco (4-3).

Adar won the gold medal at at the 2017 World Championship in Paris and the bronze at the Tokyo Olympic Games last year. 

Last year, Hamza became the first woman to give Egypt a World Championship medal after winning bronze at the Oslo edition.
