Bodybuilding: Egyptian Big Ramy loses Mr. Olympia title to Iranian Choopan

Egyptian bodybuilding star Ramy 'Big Ramy' Elssbiay failed to claim his third Mr. Olympia title in a row early on Sunday, losing the 2022 trophy to Iranian Hadi Choopan.

The annual Mr. Olympia bodybuilding competition started on Friday and continued into Saturday at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas strip.

Big Ramy, 38 was highly motivated to win his third title in a row, but this time he placed fifth in the ranking.

It is the first time Choopan, 35, has won the title. He finished third in 2019, fourth in 2020 and third again in 2021.

Big Ramy has made nine appearances in the Mr. Olympia competition, including finishing in the runner-up place four years ago.

After winning the 2020 title, the Egyptian bodybuilding star became the first non-American to win the title since British champion Dorian Yates in 1997.
