Keeper Karim Hendawi produced a man-of-the-match performance to propel Egypt to the last eight as they seek to reach the semi final for only the second time in their history.
Both sides were neck and neck in the early stages but Hendawi's saves and some fine efforts from the likes of Yehia El-Deraa and Ali Zein gave Egypt a 13-9 lead at halftime.
The Pharaohs looked to be on course for a comfortable win in the second half after increasing their lead to six goals but a late Bahrain rally saw them close to within three goals of their illustrious opponents.
However, Egypt took advantage of a two-minute suspension handed to Bahrain's Ali Merza in the last three minutes to restore their four-goal cushion.
Egypt top Group IV in the main round with six points, one ahead of second-placed Denmark, whom they face in their final game on Monday. A draw will ensure Egypt will finish on top of the group.
When Egypt last reached the quarter finals in the 2021 World Championship, they were beaten by Denmark on penalties in a memorable clash.
