The Pharaohs started the game in style, leading until the 23 rd minute when the hosts leveled the score 9-9.
The last seven minutes in the first half saw the hosts increase their lead to five goals (14-9), thanks to their brilliant keeper Andreas Palicka who was named man of the match.
The Egyptian side remained impotent against Sweden solid defense, staying 11 minutes without scoring and the hosts extended their lead to seven goals.
The Pharaohs performance improved during the last 15 minutes of the game as they narrowed the gap to three goals but it was too late as the Swedish team won the game 26-22.
Egypt will face Germany on Friday in the match for the fifth place. Germany lost 28-35 to France in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.
In the semis Sweden will face France on Fiday, while defending champions Denmark will take on Spain later in the day.
