The Red Devils led the first half 14-9 to head to the locker rooms with a comfortable five-goal advantage.

The second half was a hard-fought affair as the White Knights narrowed the gap to only one goal 24-23 but Ahly were able to stretch their lead in the final minutes to secure the title.

Dinamo Bucuresti player Ali Zein, recruited by Ahly to play in the Super Cup, sustained a serious muscle injury as he was stretchered off the pitch with ten minutes remaining.

Ahly have been crowned Egyptian champions for the first time in five years last month before clinching the Egypt Cup to complete the domestic double.
