FIBA World Cup Trophy now in Egypt for 2 days

The FIBA World Cup trophy visited Qaitbay citadel in Alexandria on Sunday, during its global tour launched in early May from the Philippines.

Members of the board of directors of the Egyptian Basketball Union in Alexandria welcomed the trophy in the magnificent Islamic monument that is Qaitbay citadel.

During its tour, the trophy will make stops in 32 countries, which will participate in the FIBA World Cup, before returning to the host countries in time for the 2023 Global Basketball Tournament. Until now, the trophy has stopped in China, Lebanon, New Zealand, Iran, Cote D’Ivoire, and Cape Verde. ​


This year’s FIBA Basketball World Cup will take place for the first time across three host countries: Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines, from 25 August to 10 September
