During the heats, Osman finished fifth, clocking up 25.77 seconds, while Swedish swimmer Sarah Sjoestroem took the top spot after recording 25.4 seconds.
Osman has hence secured a spot in the semi-finals of the women's 50m butterfly, which will be held on Saturday at 15:08.
Her impressive track record includes her personal best of 25.38 seconds in the same event at the 2022 FINA World Championships in Budapest, which also stands as the best African record in this event.
Although Egyptian swimmers Youssef Ramadan and Ali Khalafallah also competed on Friday, they faced tough competition. Youssef Ramadan finished 27th in the men's 100m butterfly heats, clocking in at 52.31 seconds, thus failing to advance to the semi-finals.
Similarly, Ali Khalafallah finished 31st in the men's 50m freestyle heats, clocking in at 22.30 seconds.
However, the Egyptian swimming team still pins its hopes on Farida Osman, Marwan El-Kamash, and Yassin Hossam, who will compete in their respective events on Saturday.
Osman will participate in the women's 50m freestyle, El-Kamash in the men's 1500m freestyle, and Hossam in the men's 50m backstroke.
The World Aquatics Championships are held from July 14-30 in Fukuoka, Japan.
