Swimming: Egyptian swimmer Farida Osman to Semi-Finals of 50m Freestyle at World Aquatics Championships

Egyptian swimmer Farida Osman qualified for the semifinal of the women's 50m Freestyle event at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, after ending the heats in 15th place early on Saturday.

During the heats, the 28-year-old Osman clocked up 24.86 seconds, while Swedish swimmer Sarah Sjoestroem took the top spot after recording 23.93 seconds. The semifinal of the Freestyle event will be played later on Saturday.

On Friday, Osman also secured a spot in the final of the women's 50m butterfly, which will be held on Saturday at 15:08. The golden butterfly achieved a time of 25.74 seconds to finish sixth in the semi-finals and secure her spot in the final.

Also on Saturday, Egypt's Yassin Hossam, 20, qualified for the men's 50m backstroke semifinal after ending the heats in the 14th place, clocking 25.07 seconds. Justin Race from the US topped the race with a time of 24.18 seconds.

The 50m backstroke semis is to be played later on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Egyptian Swimmer Marwan El-Kamash, 29, failed to proceed at the 1500m Freestyle event after finishing the heats in 9th place, clocking 14:55.19. Bobby Finky from the US topped the race clocking 14:43.06.

The World Aquatics Championships are held from July 14-30 in Fukuoka, Japan.
