Asal has been charged with three separate breaches of the PSA Code of Conduct relating to unsportsmanlike conduct and dangerous play during two matches at the PSA World Championships on 6 and 8 May 2023.

The two matches in question were against Joel Makin and his quarter-final match against Mazen Hesham.

The PSA Disciplinary Committee said that the scale and repetitive nature of Asal's offences amounted to "Aggravated Behaviour" according the PSA Code of Conduct.

The PSA noted that Asal expressed remorse for his actions, which was also taken into account. The suspension will run from 18 July to 10 October 2023.

According to the PSA statement: Asal has accepted the suspension and chosen not to exercise his right to appeal during the 15-day appeals period.

This is the second time that Asal has been suspended by the PSA in the past year. In September 2022, he was suspended for six weeks for "dangerous play" in incidents during the quarter and semi-finals of the 2022 Egypt Open.
