In a captivating showdown, second-ranked El Sherbini showcased her prowess, overcoming fellow Egyptian and world number one Nouran Gohar 3-1 (7-11, 11-4, 11-8, 11-5) in a hard-fought battle that spanned 58 minutes.

Reflecting on her performance, El Sherbini admitted, "I lost focus and only won one point from 6-1 in the first, resulting in an 11-7 loss."

"I was frustrated after that first game, but I managed to regroup from being 3-0 down in the second. I focused on playing point after point, striving for variety in my shots. While the drop shot is my signature move, I aimed to incorporate different shots whenever the opportunity arose," added El Sherbini.

On the other hand, top-ranked player Ali Farag orchestrated a remarkable comeback against Peru's Diego Elias, the second-ranked player worldwide, during their intense clash.

Farag manoeuvred his way to a 3-1 triumph (2-11, 13-11, 11-1, 11-9) in 61 minutes, showcasing his exceptional skills.

Acknowledging the challenging match, Farag admitted, "Diego played better than me in the first game. My timing was completely off, and my attempts at volleying were premature, affecting the accuracy of my length."

"I decided to slow down the pace a bit, recognizing Diego's preference for a controlled rhythm. Drawing inspiration from Karim, I managed to turn the tide when the score reached 9-6. It was a true testament to teamwork and the support I receive in terms of physical and mental conditioning," added Farag.

"I'm proud of my performance and how I bounced back yesterday. I owe thanks to those who take care of my body and mental well-being because without their assistance this achievement would have been impossible," he concluded.
