Handball: Egypt beat Algeria to win 9th African Championship title

Egypt have claimed the African Championship title held in Cairo for the third time respectively after defeating their arch-rivals Algeria 29-21 in the final game on Sunday.

Egypt started the game strongly, scoring four consecutive goals, and displayed solid defense, as Algeria managed to score their first goal after six minutes.

Egypt maintained their dominance throughout the first half, which ended with a score of 17-10 in their favor.

In the second half, Egypt sustained their momentum with goalkeeper Karim Hendawi delivering a good performance, along with Yehya Khaled and man of the match Yehya El-Deraa,.

Egypt have now won their ninth continental title, one behind record-title holder Tunisia. Algeria are third with seven titles.

Egypt will represent the continent in the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris this summer while Algeria will participate in a playoff tournament.
