This triumph marks Sherif's first consecutive tour-level wins since her memorable run to the semifinals of the 2023 Palermo tournament, a remarkable achievement that unfolded nine months ago.

The world-ranked No. 72, Sherif, will face Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No. 4 seed, on Sunday.

To reach this stage of the Madrid Open, Sherif fought her way through a gruelling three-set match against American Lauren Davis in the previous round.

Sherif overcoming a slow start to triumph with a final score of 4-6, 7-6, 6-4.

Despite a winless start to 2024, the 27-year-old Egyptian made history in 2023, since she soared to a career-high ranking of No. 31 in the world, etching her name in history as the highest-ranked Egyptian tennis player ever.
