Egyptian squash player Tarek Momen defeated countryman Mohamed El Shorbagy 3-2 to win the 2012 Malaysian Open men's individual title on Saturday.
A tough competition saw both men finish the first four sets with a draw (12/10, 6/11, 12/10, 8/11), to go for a decider.
The 24-year old player and world no.19, Momen, settled the tie in his favour in the fourth set after defeating El-Shorbay, world no.8, 14-12.
In the women's final, Egypt’s Raneem El Weleily defeated Malaysian superstar Nicol David, who failed to make the most of the advantage of playing at home, 3-1 (12/10, 11/13, 11/6, 11/2).
It is the fifth Malaysian Open triumph for the 23-year-old El Weleily.
"I was under no pressure in comparison to the semi final," world number two El Weleily, who beat David for the first time in ten attempts, said in a post-match interview.
