Hosts and African Champions Ahly are placed in Group B, where they will face off against European Champions Barcelona and Australian representatives Sydney University.

Meanwhile, Zamalek, representing the host country, finds themselves in Group A alongside Veszprem of Hungary and Brazilian side Handebol Taubate, champions of the South and Central American Championship.

The draw held in Cairo, also saw defending champions SC Magdeburg of Germany placed in an easy Group with California Eagles and Saudi side Al Khaleej Club.

The group winners and the best second-placed team among the three groups will progress to the semifinals.

The competition is scheduled to run from 27th September to 9th October in the new administrative capital.

In the previous edition held in Saudi Arabia, Ahly represented Egypt and Africa but fell short of reaching the semifinals.
