Egypt emerged victorious over England and the USA in the finals of the WSF World Squash Team Championships, the inaugural edition of the competition to feature both men’s and women’s championships simultaneously.
In the men’s final, Egypt triumphed over England, with Mazen Hesham requiring 63 minutes to defeat Curtis Malik of England 3-2 (4-11, 13-11, 6-11, 11-6, and 11-8).
Ali Farag also secured a decisive victory, beating Mohamed ElShorbagy 3-1 (6-11, 13-11, 11-8, 11-9) in 50 minutes, clinching the WSF World Teams 2024 title for the Pharaohs.

Farag expressed his elation, stating, “It feels amazing to create history with Team Egypt. Nothing compares to representing your country. I am proud to wear this shirt and share this moment with some of the greatest players who have graced the squash court. This is truly one of the happiest moments of my career.”
In the women’s final, Egypt replicated their success against the USA, with Rowan Elaraby overpowering Marina Stefanoni 3-1 (11-6, 12-10, 6-11, 11-9) in 42 minutes.
Nour El Sherbini sealed the women’s title for Egypt by defeating Olivia Weaver 3-1 (7-11, 11-6, 11-7, 11-7) in just 38 minutes.
El Sherbini, reflecting on the win, shared, “It’s a very emotional experience. There is no greater feeling than playing for your country and your team. It is an honor to participate in the Teams event, especially alongside these incredible players. I am truly delighted to bring the title back to Egypt.”
Notably, this tournament marks the first-ever joint men’s and women’s WSF World Teams event to be organized.
