Last year, Ahly made history by defeating Barcelona in the third-place match, becoming the first non-European team to get on the podium.
Despite playing at home, they could not repeat their feat against the German side who dominated the game from end to end.
SC Magdeburg established control early, leading 19-11 at halftime and maintaining their comfortable advantage to secure an easy victory.
Ahly began the tournament strongly with a commanding 41-14 group stage win over Australia’s Sydney Uni, but suffered defeats to defending champions Veszprém HC, in the groupstage, then Barcelona in the semifinals.
Earlier in the day, Zamalek were held by Sharjah SC, 28-28, to finish in the fifth place.
The championship final will see defending champions Veszprém HC face Barcelona in Egypt’s new administrative capital later on Thursday.
