Egypt's Mohamed Elshorbagy lost to Frenchman Gregory Gaultier 3-1 in the Squash World Championship semifinals, depriving the country of a representative in the final after Ramy Ashour was eliminated from the tournament due to injury earlier on Saturday.
Frenchman Gregory Gaultier - world number 2 - overcame Elshorbay with a 3-1 win (6-11, 11-3, 11-8, 12-10) in 78 minutes.
"It was a great tournament, but I’m hugely disappointed to lose, I really wanted to win this tournament," Elshorbagy quoted as saying by Squash Site.
"I worked so hard for this, and I realise now - thanks to Marwan’s input – that the difference of focus I have between a normal tournament and this tournament is huge," he added.
"It like I’ve been doing all my life, I never cared about ranking points, or things like that. I just focus on wining tittles. And that’s maybe why this event is such crucial for me,"
"I need to start focusing on other tournaments as much as I focus/prepare for this one." The Egyptian star - world number 6 – concluded.
Earlier on Saturday, Ashour was forced to withdraw from the game against Englishman Nick Matthew after sustaining an injury.
