Speaking at the GEM's opening ceremony, El-Sisi expressed gratitude for the extensive international collaboration with several global companies and institutions that made the project possible. He particularly acknowledged Japan's strong support for this major heritage landmark.

During the ceremony, the president hailed the inauguration of the GEM as a monumental achievement that embodies the creativity and resilience of the Egyptian people.

He described the museum as "not merely a place to preserve precious artefacts, but a living testimony to the genius of the Egyptian who built the pyramids and inscribed eternity on stone."

The president said Egypt, which witnessed the rise of history's first state and the birth of religious faith, art, writing, and thought, greets its guests from around the world.

"Ancient Egypt inspired nations across the globe, and from the banks of the Nile, the light of wisdom illuminated the path of human civilisation and progress," El-Sisi said.

He noted that civilisations are built in times of peace and flourish through cooperation among peoples.

The president described the GEM opening as a new chapter in the present and future of the ancient nation's history.

"This is the largest museum in the world dedicated to a single civilisation; the Egyptian civilisation, whose splendour never fades," President El-Sisi said during the ceremony.

He described the GEM as "a testament to future generations of the story of a nation deeply rooted in human history, yet ever vibrant in the present as it continues to serve humanity."

The GEM, El-Sisi noted, is "emblematic of the journey of a people who have lived along the Nile since the dawn of time, who have been hardworking, patient, and generous builders of civilisation. It also symbolises the struggle of a people proud of their homeland, whose tireless endeavours as bearers of knowledge and messengers of peace have brought them glory."

In conclusion, the president emphasised Egypt's crucial role as a haven of stability, a crossroads of cultures, and a guardian of human heritage.

"I welcome you once again to your second home, Egypt, the land of civilisation and history, of peace and love," El-Sisi said, calling on Egypt's guests to enjoy the celebration.

"Let this museum be a platform for dialogue, a destination for knowledge, a meeting point for humanity, and a beacon for all who cherish life and believe in the value of humankind. Long live Egypt, and long live humanity," he concluded.

Located near the iconic Pyramids of Giza, the GEM showcases thousands of priceless artefacts, including the entire collection of more than 5,000 pieces from the tomb of Tutankhamun displayed together for the first time in a single hall.
