Speaking at a pre-match news conference, Hassan stressed that Egypt would approach the Group B encounter with ambition, while acknowledging the strength of the opposition.
“We respect all teams, and South Africa are among the strong sides, but we play to achieve positive results and to collect the three points,” he said. “Every match is important.”
The coach emphasized Egypt’s match-by-match approach, noting that the technical staff study opponents carefully while trusting the readiness of the entire squad. Goalkeeping, in particular, poses no concern, he added, saying all options are prepared and reliable.
Hassan also thanked Egyptian and Moroccan fans for their support during the opening win over Zimbabwe, describing Egypt’s stay in Morocco as comfortable and welcoming.
He said the strong backing from supporters at home had boosted morale within the camp, while insisting that each match required a different tactical approach.
Addressing South Africa’s style, Hassan said their national team mirrors the approach of their clubs, which Egyptian sides have faced repeatedly in continental competition
“We have played them many times through Al-Ahly, Zamalek, and Pyramids,” he noted, recalling Egypt’s victory over South Africa at the 1998 tournament and expressing hope of repeating the feat.
On team news, Hassan said the fitness of striker Mostafa Mohamed and defender Mohamed Hamdy would be decided after Thursday’s training session.
He also explained the substitution of Emam Ashour against Zimbabwe as a purely tactical decision linked to switching to a recognized centre-forward.
Hassan praised the team’s statistical dominance in the opening match and singled out captain Mohamed Salah for his influence, while describing goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy as one of the best on the continent.
Egypt top Group B with three points, level with South Africa, while Zimbabwe sit third alongside Angola, both yet to register a point.
