On 13 April, Ambassador of Egypt in Belgrade Amr Aljowaily met with the leaders of the Islamic Community of Serbia: Head Scholar Sead Nasufovic, Mufti of Serbia Abdullah Nu'man and Mufti of Belgrade Mustafa Jusufspahic.
The leaders of the Islamic Community of Serbia expressed their appreciation of the crucial role played by Egypt's Al-Azhar, while highlighting that 2018 marks the 150th anniversary of the recognition of Islam as an official religion in Serbia.
On this occasion, an official ceremony is due to be held on 19 April at the Serbian parliament, and an expanded conference will be organised in mid-September.
Ambassador Aljowaily also met with the participants in the international competition of the Holy Quran from the province of Novi Bazar.
