The Embassy of Mexico in Egypt, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of Egypt and the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation, participated for the first time at the 27th Citadel International Music and Singing Festival, which ends on 17 August, by attending its most popular folk music ensemble Ikal to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the bilateral relationship between Mexico and Egypt.
Mexican ambassador to Egypt Jose Octavio Tripp and his wife Adriana Macías de Tripp, Ambassador of Bolivia to Egypt Rubén Vidaurre and Ambassador of Chile in Cairo Fernando Zalaquett Sepúlveda were present for the festival.
At the Citadel's Al-Mahka I Theatre, Ikal performed prestigious musical pieces from the Mexican traditional folklore, presenting them as a renovated and rich musical work with diversity of musical languages and the original and cheerful spirit of the Mexican folklore.
The five members of the ensemble, a pianist, a soprano, a violinist, a double bassist and a percussionist, are from San Luis Potosí City, Mexico. Their diverse professional career has allowed them to explore different musical styles ranging from jazz to pop, and boleros to classical music.
