The President of the Kemet Boutros Ghali Foundation for Peace and Knowledge Mamdouh Abbas disclosed earlier this week that the Boutros Ghali awards, worth EGP 2 million, will be announced in mid-November on what would have been the 97 birthday of the late Egyptian diplomat (1922 - 2016).

The announcement was made at a dinner reception at the Diplomatic Club in Cairo.

The famed Egyptian politician and diplomat served as Egypt's minister for foreign affairs and UN secretary-general from 1992 to 1996.

The dinner reception was attended by Minister of Planning Hala El-Said, National Security Advisor Fayza Abul-Naga, ambassador and former minister of family and population Moushira Khattab, former secretaries of the Arab League Amr Moussa and Nabil El-Arabi, former foreign ministers Mohamed Orabi and Mohamed Kamel Omar, and former minister of legal affairs Moufid Shehab.

Also attending were ambassador Mokhlis Qotb, vice president of the National Council for Human Rights, actress Yousra, director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Mustafa El-Fiqi, Al-Ahram newspaper diplomatic editor Aisha Abdel-Ghaffar, Al-Ahram newspaper international politics expert Osama Al-Ghazali, and Al-Ahram veteran writer Salah Montaser.
