In a keynote address to a celebration of Egypt at the National Museum of Serbia, Ambassador of Egypt in Belgrade Amr Aljowaily highly praised as a model of cultural cooperation between the two countries the initiative of the museum to devote a special section to the “Belgrade Mummy."

Aljowaily revealed that many ideas are currently being explored to utilise advanced information and communication technology in Serbia to bring ancient Egyptian antiquities to the wider Serbian public, through virtual and augmented reality.

National Day of Egypt celebrations in Serbia feature a number of artistic and intellectual events.

Aljowaily commended the honorable presence of high representatives of the government of Serbia, led by the speaker of the National Assembly, the ministers of interior, labour and technological development, as well as a large number of dignitaries from political, cultural, economic, social and media circles of Serbia, in addition to accredited ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps.

“In recognition of the initiative of director of the National Museum Mrs Bojana Boric Breskovic, the renowned Reda Troupe for Folk Arts of Egypt performed a number of traditional dances, one of which honoured the Serbian and Egyptian flags at the atrium of the museum, demonstrating the friendship between the two countries,” said Aljowaily.

The celebration was enlivened by Al-Tanoura whirling dervishes who performed to live Sufi music and were accompanied by gifted Egyptian singer and oud player Shady Shamel.
