The German Unity Day was celebrated this year with the theme “Cairo’s Sister Cities Frankfurt on the River Main and Stuttgart -- 40 Years of Friendship.”
The German Embassy celebrated the day on 2 October with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Egypt Cyrill Nunn and his wife Tina Nunn hosting a lavish reception party at their residence in Zamalek.
The ambassador received hundreds of prominent Egyptian and international guests from political, diplomatic, business and civil society backgrounds at the reception.
The guests of honour included Governor of Cairo Major General Khaled Abdel-Aal, Deputy Mayor of Stuttgart Martin Schairer, and Lutz Raettig, member of the board of Frankfurt.
The German ambassador gave a speech in which he praised the strong cooperation ties between Egypt and Germany, “linking our two countries, several bridges and partnerships, and it is a pleasure to celebrate tonight 40 years of twinning between the city of Cairo and its German partners, Frankfurt on the River Main and Stuttgart,” he said.
Attending the reception party were the Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait, founder of El-Sawy Culturewheel Mohamed El-Sawy and his wife Nahla, director of protocol at the Cairo Opera House, together with visual artist Nazli Madkour, PR expert and founder of Soft Power Company for Art Production Mona Zaki and her husband renowned visual artist and ophthalmologist Farid Fadel, among others.

The party was enlivened by a German band which surprised the guests with their performance of Arabic songs as well as German and international songs.
