Egypt’s Minister of Culture Ines Abdel-Dayem, together with founder of the Abu Dhabi Group for Culture and Arts Hoda Ibrahim Kanoo, granted the award of the Abu Dhabi Festival for Tolerance to TV, theatre and cinema superstar Yehia El-Fakharani during a ceremony held under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of Tolerance, at the Cairo Opera House on 26 January.
Present at the ceremony were Minister of Information Osama Heikal, head of Egypt’s National Press Authority Karam Gabr as well as an array of artists, media personalities and public figures.
Abdel-Dayem noted, "the award is a new addition in the series of victories of Egyptian creativity on the regional and global scene, actor El-Fakharani is a respectable model of whom his country is very proud."
Kanoo said that culture and arts are the main pillars of the renaissance of nations, and that El-Fakharani has exceptional talent and a long and bright artistic history that has distinguished him among the actors of his generation.
In his address to the attendees, El-Fakharani expressed his gratitude for obtaining the Abu Dhabi Festival for Tolerance award from the United Arab Emirates, especially since it is an award that is in recognition of human giving and tolerance.
"Creative artworks are immortal and this honour is a sign of moving in the right direction," he explained.
