French ambassador visits Mansura University to discuss cooperation

President of Mansura University Ashraf Abdel-Baset received on Tuesday the French ambassador in Cairo Stéphane Romatet, who visited the university's units and research centres and discussed cooperation between the university and the French side.

The French ambassador was accompanied by a delegation including director of the French Institute in Sheikh Zayed and culture and cooperation advisor Jamel Oubechou.

The visit included tours to a number of research facilities and centres inside the university, including the Stem Cell Centre at the Faculty of Medicine, the Stem Cell Bank of the Children's Hospital, and the Marrow Transplant Unit at the Children's Hospital.

During the visit, Abdel-Baset said that he was pleased to receive the French ambassador in his first visit to the university, pointing out that the university has advanced in all international rankings and occupied advanced levels globally.

He added that the university is distinguished by its unique educational programmes in partnership with major universities in the world, as there are programmes in the French language both in the first university stage in the Faculties of Arts and Education and Law and the stage of graduate studies in the Medicine, Pharmacy, Arts, and Law colleges.

The French ambassador affirmed his happiness in being present at one of the scientific edifices in Egypt which has a good reputation globally, excels in research and medicine, and possesses human capabilities and distinct minds.

Romatet also pointed out that there is cooperation between the university and the French embassy in training doctors and offering French language programmes that support researchers and students from the Francophone countries in the African continent.
