Applications for Heikal Prize for Arab Journalism are now open

The Mohamed Hassanein Heikal Foundation for Arab Journalism has announced the opening of the nomination period for the Arab Journalism Award, starting 1 February 2021 and lasting three months, with the deadline for applying for the competition being Monday 31 May 2021 via email: [email protected].

For the fifth year running, the foundation is offering two awards to celebrate excellence in journalistic work, with each award worth 250,000 Egyptian pounds. The prizes are awarded on the anniversary of Heikal's birthday on 23 September each year. Through these awards, the Mohamed Hassanein Heikal Foundation aims to honor journalists in the Arab world who have produced distinguished work in 2020.

The works participating in the competition are to be submitted with a complete biography of the contestant, which includes a summary of all the previously published works of the candidate individually or in association with others in all traditional publishing media, news sites and modern electronic means of communication, including social media. 

Contestants can apply for prizes for any work published in Arabic newspapers, magazines and news sites, and all Arab nationalities are entitled to apply for the competition provided that the age of the applicant is 40 years or less as of 31 December, 2020.
