In the presence of a number of ambassadors and celebrities, such as Ambassador of France to Egypt Stéphane Romatet, the ‘Art and Deco’ exhibition for art and furniture was inaugurated by Emaar Misr for Development SAE in cooperation with Cleg Art Gallery and Madar Furniture and Decoration, at the Uptown Cairo Sales Centre on 4 March.

The exhibition comes as part of Emaar Misr’s framework in hosting and sponsoring cultural and artistic events in order to support the Egyptian art scene and in particular to promote Egyptian artists.

The exhibition, which was held over four days and ended on 7 March, was attended by 62 artists.

The artwork of Egyptian artists, such as the late Salah Taher, Youssef Francis, Abdel-Aziz Darwish, and Kamel Mostafa were on display.

The exhibition also featured workshops and artistic trends such as plastic art through the works of Ahmed Dafrawy, Abu Bakr El-Nawawy, Abdel-Aziz El-Tamimi; and abstract art with the works of Britt Boutros Ghaly, Fayrouz Samir, and Katrina Vrebalovich.

Hassan El-Sharq presented his folklore-inspired paintings, while realistic artworks were presented by Sami Abdallah, Amany Hamada, and Eslam El-Rehany.

Islam Nagdi also showed his Cubism styled paintings, while George Bahgoury and Mohsen Abu El-Azm showcased their caricature art.

The surrealist arts of Nabil Ali, and the sculptures by Ahmed Abdel-Wahab, Rana Chalaby, Ihab El-Assiouty, and Ammar Shiha were also featured.

During the exhibition, a panel discussion was held with the participation of visual artists Ayman Taher and Hassan Al-Shark, and interior designers Nihal Leheta, Hisham Ghorab, Karim El-Hayawan, and Mohamed Attia, who discussed modern and classic trends in interior design that mix between paintings and furniture.
